What exactly does it mean to “go digital” in a dental lab? And how digital should a dental laboratory be in this day and age?
That the workflow in the dental laboratory is becoming increasingly digital is a reality that cannot be denied. Technical progress constantly brings forth new components and innovative technologies, with which another step towards an integral and precise digital workflow can be made.

In this conference, the audience will be taken on a journey into Zirkonzahn’s world of digital dentistry: everyday laboratory life in the digital age will be examined and Zirkonzahn’s recently upgraded CAD-software and its distinctive features will be presented. In this context, also new components in treatment planning that allow to bring the patient data from the analogue into the digital environment will be demonstrated: With the help of the PlaneSystem®, developed by Udo Plaster in collaboration with Zirkonzahn, it is possible to capture and identify the patient’s individual occlusal plane and any associated natural asymmetries. Together with the Face Hunter 3D facial scanner, used for photo-realistic 3D digitisation of patient faces, it guarantees a planning reliability for the dental technician and the patient, as the tooth restoration can be realised based on the patient’s physiognomy, taking into account bone asymmetries and resulting muscular compensation.

It is very important to create and maintain a clear communication between dentist, technician and patient, in order to obtain the best in quality and reach a maximum of effectiveness in the working processes. Therefore, innovative solutions achieved by modern CAD/CAM technology, different patient cases and different material options will be presented. Encountered difficulties during the realisation of the cases will be explained as well.
As new developments often also result in a choice in newer, better materials, the spectators will also be informed about the newest product innovations by Zirkonzahn.
