Radiographic imaging differs fundamentally from ordinary depiction since the visualization of the three dimensional objects that are examined bring information that our perceptual systems are not designed for. Full comprehension is therefore difficult to achieve without years of training partly because training, necessary for essential understanding, is restricted by the use of ionizing radiation.

The simulator concept in the project to be presented combines radiographic simulation technique with exercises allowing the user to experiment in a virtual reality environment that permits extraordinary feedback. It focuses on learning for understanding rather than to develop specific skills or ways of working that is the most common approach in simulators.
